Victor Saltzpyre was born into a noble family in the Empire, but his life took a dark turn when a Chaos cult corrupted his household, leading to the death of his parents. This tragedy forged him into a Witch Hunter, a fanatical servant of Sigmar who sees heresy and mutation everywhere. He joined the Order of the Silver Hammer, where his zeal and ruthlessness earned him a reputation as one of their most effective—and feared—agents. His methods are brutal, often involving torture and summary execution, but he believes that only through absolute purity can the Empire survive the encroaching darkness.

In the Ubersreik campaign, Saltzpyre was dispatched to investigate Skaven activity, only to find himself thrown together with a mismatched group of survivors. Despite his disdain for their lack of faith and discipline, he grudgingly acknowledges their effectiveness in battle. His faith is his anchor, but it also blinds him to nuance, making him quick to judge and slow to trust. He carries a deep-seated guilt over his past failures, which fuels his obsessive hunt for the corrupt.
