Lore & Background

Burblespue Halescourge was originally a sorcerer of Nurgle, but his devotion to the Plague God led to a horrific transformation. He became a Chaos Spawn, a mindless beast of rotting flesh and unnatural strength, yet he retained a sliver of his former cunning. His body is a festering mass of sores, tentacles, and gaping wounds that spew forth nurglings and clouds of pestilent gas. He is said to have been tasked with guarding the Blightreaper, a daemon-forged sword that corrupts all who wield it.

In Their Own Story

The temple reeked of rot so thick it coated the throat. The Ubersreik Five pressed deeper into the filth, every step squelching through unnamed muck. Then the growl came—low, wet, like a drowned beast stirring. The floor trembled. From the shadows heaved Burblespue Halescourge: a hill of bloated, weeping flesh studded with pus-oozing eyes that swiveled independently, each fixing on a different hero. A tentacle, slick and veined, lashed out and sent Bardin crashing into a pillar. Halescourge belched a cloud of green gas that blistered skin and choked the lungs. The heroes dodged, hacked at the glowing pustules along his sides, and dodged again as nurglings spilled from his open sores. When the last eye went dark, the monstrosity collapsed, its bulk shaking the temple floor like a dying earthquake.

Reader's Guide

Burblespue Halescourge is the Blightreaper campaign's final boss: a slow, lumbering fortress of disease whose every move punishes clustering. Watch for his sweeping tentacle strikes—they have deceptive range and can knock you off ledges. His ground-pound leaves a pool of caustic bile that lingers, so keep moving. When he roars, he vomits a spreading cloud of poison gas; break line of sight behind pillars or retreat to high ground. His weak points are the glowing, pus-filled pustules across his torso and limbs—shoot or strike them to stagger him and deal bonus damage. Nurglings spawn from his wounds; clear them quickly or they'll overwhelm you. Unlike generic Chaos Spawn, Halescourge has no direct allies, but his arena contains cauldrons of plague he can tip over, so avoid standing near them. Defeating him prevents the Skaven from claiming the Blightreaper, a daemon-forged sword that would doom the Reikland.
