The rain hammered the cobblestones as Saltzpyre knelt behind a shattered cart, the Repeater Crossbow's stock cold against his cheek. A tide of Skaven surged from the sewer grate, their red eyes gleaming. He worked the lever, a smooth, practiced motion, and the first bolt took a Clanrat through the throat. Before its body hit the ground, three more were in the air, each finding a mark. The weapon sang a metallic rhythm, a dirge of righteous fury, until the street was slick with blood and the last of the vermin fled.
